Spring into Balance!

Taking our cues from nature

In the Northern Hemisphere, it’s the Spring Equinox this Saturday (3/20/21). That means that day and night are essentially balanced. What better time to take a look at the balance in your own life?

Spring is also a time of rebirth: a time of baby animals, Spring flowers, and bare trees bursting into leaves and flowers after their long sleep through Winter. Spring is one of the most hopeful season, in my opinion!

In addition to considering the balance in your life, and what changes you may need to make, the Spring Equinox is also a great time to think about what you want to birth in 2021.

Even if you don’t have time for a longer practice, even just a few minutes spent pondering balance and rebirth is time well spent this Saturday.

I have five suggestions for ways you can stop and spend a little time pondering balance — or bringing more balance into your life — this Saturday.

Join the challenge here

1: Join our Better Balance + Strong Core Challenge

On Sunday I will be releasing the third video in this series. You can jump right in, or start with week 1 here. You can go even deeper in the Facebook group, which you can join here, where I have a guide to the entire challenge and extra practices.

2: Grab a notepad & meditate on balance

Join me for some breath work, stretching, mediation — including a visualization to help balance your Chakras. Make sure to keep an eye on the YouTube channel here for this Spring Balancing meditation on Saturday. Have a notepad nearby to jot down any downloads that come to you:

  • What am I ready to birth this Spring?
  • Where is my life out of balance?
  • How can I bring more balance into my life?
  • Who is can help me to find more balance in my life?
  • Why have I let my life be out of balance?
Take a walk outside

3: Spend time in nature

There’s no better way to celebrate Mother Nature/Earth than to spend time out in nature. If it’s warm enough where you live, take your mat and practice outside. I’m definitely looking forward to the days when I can regularly practice outside again!

Go for a hike. Notice what is coming up/out: flowers, leaves, animals.

Kick off your shoes and walk barefoot over the grass. Better yet, lay right down on it!

Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving.

4: Check in with your life balance

Balance is a moving target, because the only thing sure in life is change. Grab your journal and ponder the following questions:

  • What do you need to add for more balance in your life?
  • What is it time to say goodbye to?
  • What relationships no longer serve you?
  • What do you need to ask for to find more balance in your life?
  • What brings you joy? How often are you doing it?
  • Where in your life are you out of balance?
  • What seeds are you planting this Spring?

5: Practice 108 Sun Salutations

A word of caution here: Sun Salutations are a great exercise to quickly heat the body and energize. They were also created with the male body in mind, and they are not easy to do with perfect form, even for experienced Yogis.

I have actually never done 108 Sun Salutations, so take what I say with a grain of salt. If you do choose this practice, please listen closely to your body.

Why 108? There seem to be many reasons, and I will be the first to tell you that until a couple of years ago, I had never even heard of this practice! One reason is that in Numerology 108 = 9, which is supposed to corresponds to awakening. Consult Google and choose a reason that resonates with you!

I will be leading a modified Sun Salutation practice in the Facebook Group here on Saturday morning.
